Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for COVID-19 Infection: Current Concepts and Strategies

The current pandemic of COVID-19 disease has spread, in a matter of a few months to nearly 200 countries, and the absence of a treatment has put the world in jeopardy. To date, more than 42 million people worldwide have been infected with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) and nearly 1.25 million have died from COVID-19 Pandemic. Many countries moved toward resuming work activities and social interaction to rescue economy. This makes population continue suffering severe losses in the absence of strict prophylaxis strategy against this pandemic. It is well known that prevention is better than cure, therefore, we plan to display the current strategies that should be implemented prior to exposure to infection and underlines its effectiveness in containing the infection. Repurposed vaccines and SARS-CoV-2 specific vaccines are also mentioned, to keep up with the most recent updates that are being carried out.
