Hepatitis C is a rapidly spreading illness in India and a major cause of liver damage. The significant likelihood of chronicity associated with this blood-borne infection, as well as its link to hepatocellular carcinoma, highlight its public health significance. Two avoidable modes of hepatitis C infection dissemination include blood transfusion and improper therapeutic procedures with contaminated needles. Furthermore, risk factor modification, such as lowering the number of intravenous drug users, will aid in decreasing the incidence of this illness.
